All of these Kelpies are true RED (e/e), called "cream" in the Kelpie breed. They are different shades of red due to modifiers, like from the chinchilla gene.
Genetically, an e/e red dog can be either black, diluted black ("blue"), brown, or diluted brown ("fawn or lilac"). The best way to tell the genetic color of the dog is to look at the nose.
If the nose, eye rims and lips are:
 | | black, the dog is genetically a black dog (the color will be | | | from a dead wheat color to a fox red).
|  | | brown, the dog is genetically a brown dog (the color will | | | tend to be like the genetically black dog).
|  | | diluted black (blue), then dog is genetically a blue dog | | | (the dilution gene will lighten the e/e red to pale yellow, biscuit, butter cream or even almost white color).
|  | | rosey-brown or a brownish pink (fawn or lilac), the dog is | | | genetically a fawn/lilac dog (the dilution gene [on the D locus] will lighten the color to a pale yellow, almost white).

The dog in the first and third picture is genetically a black dog, because she has a black nose, eye rims and lips. The dog in the second picture is genetically a brown dog, because her nose, eye rims and lips are brown. The dog in the last, or fourth picture, is genetically a chocolate or diluted brown (fawn or lilac).
