Coat Colors of the
Working Australian
Kelpie
These are all the coat colors that are found in the Working
Australian Kelpie.  We own some of these dogs, most we do
not.  These pictures were sent to me from other
breeders/handlers.

Before you start sighting in your rifle at your neighbor's
chocolate Lab, because your good black/tan bitch that you
mated to your best black/tan dog, just had a litter of
black/tan and chocolate [red]/tan puppies --- take a few
minutes to look over the genetics that are responsible for coat
color.

It is possible for two black/tan dogs to produce a rainbow
litter.  That litter being comprised of black/tan, chocolate
[red]/tan, blue/tan, fawn/tan and cream.

When I speak of "chocolate" or "brown', I am referring to the
color that is commonly called "red" by many people.
Genetically, this is not correct -- red and brown are two
different colors.
